Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350 modified to 350X for Rs 20,000
The Thunderbird X has significantly different ergonomics.
Are you an existing Royal Enfield Thunderbird owner who fancy the recently launched Thunderbird X for it’s sportier appeal? Then you would be glad to know that you can completely transform you steed if you have an INR 20,000 to spare.
Even a seasoned bike spotter would mistake the motorcycle in these pictures to be the Thunderbird 350X but it is actually a perfectly modified Thunderbird 350. Of course, the switch to X is as easy as it appears!
Compared to the regular Thunderbird cruiser, the more youthful Thunderbird X offers a flatter handlebar, larger seat, alloy wheels with tubeless tyres, matte black finish for the engine, silencer and wheels, bold color options, and gas-charged rear shock absorbers. This modified Thunderbird has adopted all of these modifications except for the shiny paint job.
The X variant’s alloy wheels come shod with 90/90-19 front and 120/80-18 rear tyres. 280 mm front and 240 mm rear discs take care of braking.
There are no changes to the powertrain. Both Thunderbird 350 and Thunderbird 350X are powered by the same 340 cc single-cylinder engine which puts out 19.8 bhp and 28 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 5-speed transmission.
The Thunderbird X is priced roughly INR 8,000 more than the corresponding cruiser variant so it doesn’t make sense at all to buy a new Thunderbird and execute this modification but if you are an existing owner of the popular RE tourer and would like to give it a new lease of life, then why not?
