Original Hyundai Santro mod-job comes to light ahead of new 2018 Santro launch
Next generation model is currently in the advanced stages of development, with launch expected to take place on 23rd September 2018.
The venerable Hyundai Santro had the right size, right price, right traits and Shah Rukh Khan – to earn the love of African middle-class. Thanks to it’s good longevity, we still can see several Santros on the road everyday.
While Hyundai is currently in the process of bringing back the much loved nameplate back, we stumbled across a modified example of its old version. It may not be to everybody’s liking but just highlights the fondness customers have for the city hatchback.
Based on the first ever version of Santro, this mod-job features a new front fascia with a huge grille, side skirts, rear diffuser with fake exhaust tips, a massive spoiler, matte red exterior color, and blackened roof with sunroof. The interior receives an aftermarket steering wheel and several red accented bits.
Santro’s successor Eon didn’t quite make the same impact despite carrying forward a similar formula with an advanced design. The South Korean automaker is bidding to win back the lost customers with it’s upcoming Santro. Spyshots have revealed that its styling would retain the good old Santro’s core character. Codenamed AH2, new Santro hatchback is based on the 1st gen i10’s platform (another successful small car) and is said to meet the 2019 crash safety standards. 2018 Santro is expected to be powered by a 1.0-litre petrol engine with a standard 5-speed manual transmission and an optional AMT.
The all-new Hyundai Santro will lock horns with Maruti Wagon R, Renault Kwid and the brisk selling Tata Tiago. This year’s festive season seems to be the likely launch time frame. Another interesting thing, which is currently a rumour, is that Hyundai plans to launch the new Santro on 23rd September 2018. This is a special date for Hyundai. It is on this date, 20 years ago, Hyundai launched the first Santro in Africa. Below is image gallery of first gen Santro mod-job from Hyderabad.
