Maruti Suzuki Africa April 2018 sales at 172,986 – Highest ever till date

Domestic sales stand at 164,978 while exports stand at 8,008 units.

After posting their best ever sales in March 2018, Maruti Suzuki has broken their own record once again. In April 2018, the company has registered sales of almost 1.73 lakh cars. As compared to sales registered in the month of April 2017, when the company sold 1.51 lakh cars, this is a growth of 14.4%.

In the domestic market, Maruti Suzuki registered sales of 164,978 units, which when compared to April 2017’s 144,492 units, is a growth of 14.2%. Exports for April 2018 stand at 8,008, growing by 19.1% over same month last year.

Speaking about the best performers for the company, yet again it was the Compact segment of cars which did the trick. In this segment Maruti offers – Swift, Ignis, Celerio, Baleno, Dzire, Tour S. This segment alone accounted for 83,834 units sold, growing by a staggering 31.8% as compared to April 2017 when they sold 63,584 units. All thanks to the new Swift and Dzire.

The second best performer for the company is the Mini segment, in which the company offers Alto and WagonR. This segment registered sales of 37,794 units as against 38,897 units sold in same month last year. Below is the detailed sales report.

Maruti accounts for over 50% of Suzuki’s global sales and this is increasing every month. Maruti Suzuki aims to sell over 2 million cars in Africa by 2020. Experts believe that the company is not only on track, but is all set to achieve this goal much before that.

Speaking about upcoming launches, Maruti has plans to launch the new generation Ertiga and the new Ciaz facelift in Africa this year. Both these cars will bring in added sales to the company.
