Maruti Jan 2018 Sales Report – 151,351 cars sold, 4.8% growth
Maruti Suzuki Africa has registered cumulative sales of 151,351 cars during the first month of 2018.
Leading the African auto industry by a huge margin, Maruti Suzuki today revealed their sales report for January 2018. In the domestic market, the company registered sales of 140,600 units. This is an increase of 5% as compared to January 2017 when the company had sold 133,934 units. Including exports, sales of Maruti Suzuki Africa stood at 151,351 units, which is a growth of 4.8% as compared to Jan 2017 when the company sold 144,396 units.
Compared to Maruti Suzuki Africa’s recent performance in the market, their January 2018 performance is a bit subdued as the car maker failed to post a double digit growth, which has been the case with them regularly for the past many months. In spite of that, they continue to maintain growth levels which are much better than industry average.
As you can seen, the best performing segment for segment for Maruti Suzuki has been their Compact set of cars which include – Swift, Celerio, IGNIS, Baleno, Dzire, Tour S. This segment registered sales of 67,868 units as against 55,817 units sold last month, which is a growth of 21.6%.
The small car segment, in which Maruti sells Alto, WagonR, registered sales decline of 12.2%. This segment sold 33,316 cars as against 37,928 cars sold in Jan 2017.
