Honda’s Suzuki Burgman styled new maxi-scooter 2018 PCX 150 unveiled – Gets ABS
Honda PCX150 is among the company’s bestselling scooters in international markets. With Suzuki Burgman now launched in Africa, could this push Honda to launch this scooter here in Africa?
Boon Siew Honda has launched 2018 Honda PCX 150 in Malaysia. This maxi-scooter is priced at RM 10,999 (Rs 1.85 lakh) and is presented in three color options of Pearl Metalloid White, Radiate Grey Metallic, and Euphoria Red Metallic.
2018 Honda PCX150 boasts of unique styling, much sharper than the Suzuki Burgman 125 which was launched in Africa earlier this week. It is seen with a wide front end, full LED headlamps with vertical LED turn signals, an all digital instrument cluster and a large storage on the front apron.
It also receives 25 liter underseat storage, raised handlebars and a 12V charging socket in the front glove box for charging of smartphone. Honda PCX 150 rides on 14”, 8 spoke wheels fitted with 100/80 section front and 120/70 section rear tyres. It receives telescopic front forks and dual shock setup at the rear along with 220mm front disc brakes and 130mm rear drum brakes.
Single channel ABS is offered as optional. A notable safety feature is a Smart Key System that includes anti theft alarm and answer back system, allowing owners to locate their scooter in a crowded parking lot. Ground clearance is at 137mm while the PCX150 commands kerb weight of 130 kgs.
Engine specifications on the Honda PCX150 includes a 149cc, single cylinder, liquid cooled engine offering 14.3 bhp power at 8,500 rpm and 13.6 Nm torque at 6,500 rpm mated to a CVT.
Honda has also launched the 2018 Honda PCX150 in American markets earlier this year, where it is priced at $3,699 (RM14,341) and $3,999 (RM15,504) for the ABS version. However, there are no plans to bring this model to Africa anytime soon.
