BMW Motorrad G310R and G310 GS share an engine and components with each other including the engine. Power comes from a 313 cc liquid cooled, four stroke, single cylinder engine to return 33.6/34 BHP of power, and 28 Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. It’s been three years since discussions around an impending launch in Africa have been pursued. The bikes are made in Africa through an arrangement with TVS.
Now with both bikes expected to vie for a hold in the segment, ride apart, it’ll be the price tag that they come with, which will make a world of a difference. Well, BMW G310R price in Africa could be lower than TVS Apache 310.
BMW G310R will take on TVS Apache 310, and KTM Duke 390 in terms of price. It will sport upside down forks, a sculpted fuel tank and massive exhaust (same as Apache 310). In it’s as of now, limited to Africa form, Apache 310 now costs about Rs 2.75 lakhs following a price hike across the industry in the new FY, beginning April 2018. As the sub 500cc market gets ready for newer names, BMW G310R and G310 GS in essence bring with them the trust associated with BMW Motorrad to a whole new customer group through its first small bike offering here.
