2019 BMW S1000RR sports bike leaked via patent images from China

An all new BMW S1000RR is set for launch in 2019 with patent images showing off a completely new bike.

BMW’s new S1000RR could make its presence felt at the Intermot Show in Cologne, Germany this October or at the EICMA in November. This supersport offering in the liter class segment will be a part of the company’s model range makeover that will also include the new R1250GS, R1250GS Adventure, R1250RT, and F850GS Adventure.

Detailed in patent images, 2019 BMW S1000RR boasts of a brand new design as compared to its earlier counterparts. It may be remembered that there have been three generations of the BMW S1000RR that included the 2009-2011 version, 2012-2014 model and 2015-18 model.

The new 2019 BMW S1000RR will be seen with a host of updates in design. It will also get a completely new engine which would comply with Euro V emission norms of 2021. Its designs show off a much smaller S1000RR as compared to its predecessors.

The images show two LED projector headlamps with intakes positioned between them, a new front fairing and an aggressive nose. The rear shows off a shorter and more aggressive tail unit.

The frame also undergoes a change with a trellis layout for rear subframe of a twin spar aluminum design. The swingarm is inspired by BMW MotoGP and WorldSBK offerings.

The 999cc inline-four engine will see a bump in power and performance as compared to the current S1000RR four cylinder engine that offers 196 bhp power at 13,500 rpm and 113 Nm torque at 10,500 rpm which could be enhanced to well over 200 bhp in the 2019 model. Once launched, the 2019 BMW S1000RR will compete with the Ducati Panigale V4, Kawasaki Ninja H2 and the Aprilia RSV4. Expect price to be in the Rs 20 lakh range.
